B1 Fire-Safe Ballroom Backdrop (280gsm FR) — An opaque core between two faces — zero light bleed, zero show-through, media-wall flat, specified for event backdrops.
Blockout is a layered construction, not a thick single cloth. An opaque core sits between the printable face and the reverse, so no light passes through and nothing printed on one side is visible from the other. That is what lets a press wall photograph clean under flash and a room divider actually divide a room.
An event backdrop has two jobs that pull in different directions: it has to look immaculate to the eye in the room, and it has to photograph cleanly under whatever lighting the venue and the press bring with them. Fabric wins over rigid panels here because it ships rolled, sets up in minutes and does not reflect.
Best for
- Conference and keynote stages
- Gala and fundraiser backdrops
- Photo and step-and-repeat walls
- Registration and welcome walls
- Portable pop-up backdrops
Key advantages
- Opaque core stops light bleed completely — critical under event lighting and camera flash
- No show-through, so each face can carry entirely different artwork
- Hangs flat and dead-still indoors, which is what step-and-repeat photography needs
- Dense construction holds deep blacks without the backlighting wash you get on thin cloth
- Long indoor service life across many repeat installations

Choosing the right specification
If cameras will be present, opacity matters more than weight. A semi-sheer cloth with a lit wall behind it will show every shadow and cable run once a flash fires. Choose a blockout or a heavy soft knit for anything being photographed, and hang it with enough height above the frame that the top hem falls outside the shot.
How ordering works
- Send your artwork — Upload print-ready artwork at any stage — we check scale, resolution and bleed before anything goes to press and come back to you if something needs adjusting.
- Made to your size — Every panel is cut and finished to your dimensions. Tell us the finished size you need and how it is being fixed, and we will allow for hems and fixings correctly.
- Printed by dye-sublimation — Colour is transferred into the polyester fibre under heat, so the image becomes part of the cloth rather than a layer sitting on top of it.
- Finished and shipped — Hems, eyelets, pole pockets, silicone edge and other finishing are applied before your order is folded, boxed and dispatched worldwide.

Technical detail
What to expect from service life. Indoors and out of direct sun, printed polyester holds its appearance for five years or more. Outdoors, published ranges for dye-sublimated polyester run from roughly six to twenty-four months depending on how exposed the position is, with the shorter end applying in high-ultraviolet regions such as the Southwest, Florida and the Gulf Coast, and in coastal or high-wind locations. Sheltered and north-facing installations reach the longer end. Coated and tarpaulin-grade constructions extend beyond that band because the coating carries the UV load.
Best suited to
Indoor work where light control is the whole point — press walls, media and sponsor walls, stage backdrops, room dividers and hanging panels.
