FABRIC DETAILS

Acoustic Feature Wall Panel — A dense needle-punched felt that does a real acoustic job while carrying a full-colour print, specified for shop displays.

Acoustic felt works by presenting a deep, porous fibre structure that converts sound energy into heat as air moves through it. The effect is strongest in the mid and upper frequencies — the range that makes an open-plan office or a hard-surfaced meeting room tiring to work in. Because the felt is polyester, it takes a dye-sublimated print as readily as any other fabric in the range.

Retail display fabric works at close range, under retail lighting, in front of customers who are close enough to touch it. That raises the bar on finish quality in a way that distance-viewed signage never does.

About this format

Fabric wall art hangs from a rod pocket or a concealed batten, which puts a very large image on a wall with a fraction of the weight and none of the glass a framed print would need. Check your source resolution before scaling up.

Best for

  • SEG retail display panels
  • Backlit lightbox displays
  • In-store feature walls
  • Point-of-sale header banners
  • Acoustic feature panels

Key advantages

  • Genuine acoustic absorption in the mid and upper frequencies, not a decorative imitation
  • Rigid enough to mount as a self-supporting panel without a frame behind it
  • Deep matte surface with no reflection — comfortable under office lighting
  • Cuts cleanly to shape, including curves and geometric tile layouts
  • Long indoor service life with essentially no maintenance

Choosing the right specification

At close range, the frame and the edge finish matter as much as the print. Silicone edge graphics sit flush in their extrusion with no visible hem, which is why they look built-in rather than hung. When ordering SEG, always give us your frame make and model — bead sizes vary between systems and a graphic cut for the wrong extrusion will not seat.

How ordering works

  • Send your artwork — Upload print-ready artwork at any stage — we check scale, resolution and bleed before anything goes to press and come back to you if something needs adjusting.
  • Made to your size — Every panel is cut and finished to your dimensions. Tell us the finished size you need and how it is being fixed, and we will allow for hems and fixings correctly.
  • Printed by dye-sublimation — Colour is transferred into the polyester fibre under heat, so the image becomes part of the cloth rather than a layer sitting on top of it.
  • Finished and shipped — Hems, eyelets, pole pockets, silicone edge and other finishing are applied before your order is folded, boxed and dispatched worldwide.

Technical detail

Getting real acoustic benefit, and what the numbers mean. Needle-punched polyester felt absorbs sound by converting air movement within its fibre structure into heat, and the effect is strongest across the mid and upper frequencies — the range that makes an open-plan office tiring. Absorption is quoted as Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC), the average of the coefficients at 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 Hz. Worth being precise about scale: the published NRC figures of 0.7 to 0.9 belong to thick moulded PET panels of 9 mm and above, and a printed felt sheet is a much thinner material, so it delivers useful but more modest absorption than those numbers imply. Two things raise real-world performance more than material choice does: covering more of the reflecting surface, and mounting the panel on a batten so there is an air gap behind it. If you need a measured NRC figure for a project specification, talk to us and we will confirm what we can supply for your chosen panel build.

Best suited to

Acoustic treatment that also carries a print — office dividers, sound-absorbing wall art, cubicle screens and meeting-room feature panels.
